Express, OK! Magazine and Daily Star Websites to Launch Vibrant In-Text Solutions in Deal with Parent Northern & Shell

LONDON, (EON: Enhanced Online News) — Vibrant, the world leader in in-text solutions, has signed a year-long deal with Northern & Shell, a leading UK magazine and newspaper publisher, to provide in-text solutions across its portfolio of online properties including www.dailystar.co.uk, www.express.co.uk and www.ok.co.uk.

Vibrant offers both advertising revenue through Vibrant In-Text Advertising and editorial solutions through Vibrant Related Content. Vibrant In-Text Advertising highlights words and word phrases within premium web content with a distinctive green double-underline. These words act as triggers, displaying relevant advertising when a user mouses over the word or phrase of interest.

According to a recent Nielsen Online report commissioned by Vibrant comparing in-text ads to other formats, 70% of those surveyed felt that in-text ads are the most relevant to page content and 65% felt in-text ads are the most effective in conveying their message. And, by extension, over half of respondents indicated a positive opinion of advertisers who use in-text ads—more than any other format. Vibrant In-Text Solutions reach over 130 million people worldwide across more than 3,500 premium websites.

In addition to providing in-text advertising, Vibrant will work with Northern & Shell to provide editorial links through Vibrant Related Content which surfaces additional information from the website's own archives. These links include related articles, video, music, and images. Clearly differentiated from Vibrant's commercial double-underlined version, these links mirror the style of the publisher's own editorial hyperlinks with a tiny magnifying glass icon to indicate that further editorial information is available. According to Farzad Jamal, Group Internet Controller of Express Newspapers, “Vibrant In-Text Advertising Solutions enable our readers to experience relevant advertising on their own terms while providing an additional revenue stream to the business.”

Craig Gooding, co-founder and CCO of Vibrant adds: “Northern & Shell is an important addition to our growing list of 3,500 of premium publisher partners offering Vibrant In-Text Solutions. These ‘next-generation hyperlinks’ give users quick and easy access to related information across the Northern & Shell network.”
