Vibrant Media vs Surfer SEO

Surfer SEO compared with Vibrant Media: a content editor and AI-visibility tracker your writers drive against an AI team that writes, checks and publishes after you approve. Listed prices, seats, when each fits.

Surfer's pricing page sums the product up in its own header: "Create content that ranks on Google and gets cited by AI search engines", with an "Optimized content editor", "AI visibility tracking" and "SEO audit" listed underneath, for "Content & SEO teams". It is a platform your writers work inside — the Content Editor scores a draft while someone writes it. Vibrant Media is for a business with nobody to write: seven AI roles plan the month from one brief, write, run every draft through quality gates, and publish to your site only after you click approve.

So the question is not which one ranks better. It is whether you already have writers. If you do, Surfer is built to make their drafts score higher, from $49 a month billed yearly on Discovery. If you do not, a scoring tool has nothing to score — the team here produces the drafts and hands you a queue to approve, at $49 for one specialist and $199 for the seven-role team.

Where Surfer wins

It is built for people who write

The Content Editor gives a writer "real-time metrics for structure, word count, NLP-ready keywords and images" while the draft is open, and Surfy will "edit, rephrase, and refine any article in real-time". If you employ writers or freelancers and want their work to land closer to what ranks, that is the job Surfer was designed for. We do not offer an editor at all: our drafts arrive finished, and your part is approve or reject.

Vibrant Media: no writing workspace; the roles write, you read.

It tracks what AI answers say about your brand

The AI Tracker shows "how Gemini, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Perplexity talk about your brand", with Mention Gap and Brand Sentiments on the plans that include it. We do not track your brand inside AI answers at all. Our analyst counts visits that AI assistants send to your site, from your own GA4, and that is a different number.

Vibrant Media: referral visits from assistants, not what the assistants say.

Every language, against our one

"Surfer works with all languages!" according to its pricing FAQ, and the Content Editor promises to "Write and optimize content in any language". We ship English only — the roles, the gates and the product are built for English-language markets.

Vibrant Media: English, and no second language behind a setting.

Seats for a team, and access for outside writers

Plans list team seats — "1 Team Seat" on Discovery up to "10 Team Seats" on Peace of Mind — plus comments, version history and "External Collaboration Links", so an agency can hand an editor to a freelancer without sharing a password. We run one office per account for one brand.

Vibrant Media: one business per subscription.

Integrations and an API

Every plan lists WordPress, Google Docs, Contentful and Zapier; MCP is listed on AI Search Analytics, Pro and Peace of Mind, and "API Access" on Peace of Mind. We publish to WordPress, Shopify and Ghost through their own APIs and do not offer an API of our own.

Vibrant Media: three publishing destinations; nothing to build on top of.

Where the AI team wins

There is something to approve without a writer on staff

The brief is filled once — by you, or by the wizard reading up to five pages of your site. The chief manager turns it into a plan, and the roles write the month: on Team that is 20 articles, 60 social packs and 80 images. Surfer scores and assists a draft; somebody on your side still has to be writing it.

Surfer: its own pages name its users as "agencies, in-house teams, and individuals" running a content workflow.

Publishing is a click, and only a click

Approving a draft is the action that publishes it to WordPress, Shopify or Ghost. Nothing goes out unattended, and there is no setting that turns that on, on any plan.

Surfer: the WordPress plugin offers "1-click export"; the publishing decision stays in your CMS.

Six gates read the draft before you do

Facts, brand voice, SEO, policy, whether it repeats an earlier piece of yours, and whether an assistant can read it. They fail closed — an unparseable verdict or a network error means the draft does not pass — and unqualified medical, legal or financial advice is blocked outright. A Content Score tells a writer how close the draft is to the pages that rank; the gates here decide whether it reaches you at all.

Surfer: "Plagiarism Checker" on Standard and up, and a Humanizer.

Team and Scale add an SMM manager, a designer and a link builder to the blogger and the SEO. The link builder works directory listings and outreach that arrive as drafts you approve one at a time — no private blog networks, no forum spam, no paid links.

Surfer: social posts and images are not listed on its pricing page (checked 2026-10-12).

Proof from your own Google accounts

Each published piece is kept with its live link, a copy of the page as it went live, and the run that wrote it. With Search Console and GA4 connected, the analyst tags every figure GSC, GA4, estimate or internal; without a connection it says "no data yet" instead of a number.

Surfer: "Rank Drop Detection" and page tracking — "Track 10 Pages" on Discovery, up to 500 on Peace of Mind.

What it costs

Our prices come from our own plan catalog. Surfer's US-dollar figures are from the US version of its pricing page as archived on 2026-10-09; the live page on 2026-10-12 showed the same amounts in euros. Every plan shows a price "per month" and "Billed yearly", and its FAQ says the annual plan is charged for the entire year upfront.

PlanPriceWhat is listed
Vibrant Media — Solo$49/moAI-Blogger + Chief Manager, 12 articles/mo, 1 channel, evidence feed
Vibrant Media — Team$199/mo7 specialists, 20 articles, 60 social packs, 80 images, all 12 channels
Vibrant Media — Scale$499/mo50 articles, 200 images + 200 social packs, 2,000 team requests
Surfer — Discovery$49/mo, billed yearly"Create or Optimize 120 Documents", "Track 10 Pages", "1 Team Seat"

Surfer — AI Search Analytics$82/mo, billed yearlyAI visibility tracking only: "Track 50 AI Prompts", "Mention Gap"

Surfer's "Documents" are drafts its editor creates or optimizes, and its FAQ says credits on an annual plan reset yearly. Our articles are finished pieces counted per month. We do not divide one price by the other — the units are different things.

When not to hire us

  • You already have writers and want them faster. A scoring editor that sits next to a person is Surfer's job; we replace the writing, we do not coach it.
  • You need to see how AI assistants describe your brand. We do not track ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or AI Overviews answers.
  • Nothing goes out without a person clicking publish. If you want pages appearing while nobody watches, this is the wrong product.
  • Nine of the twelve channels are a hand-off, not an integration. Medium, Telegram, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok: we write the post and a checklist, and you post it from your own account.
  • English only, one brand per account. Multi-language and multi-client work is outside what this product does today.
  • Proof needs a connection. Rankings and traffic come from your Search Console and GA4. Without them you get published work and no evidence, and the report says so.

Closing

If your business has writers and the gap is that their pages do not rank or get cited, Surfer's pages describe exactly that tool, from $49 a month billed yearly. If the gap is that nobody is writing at all, a score has nothing to measure — what $49 to $199 a month buys here is the writing, checked by six gates, published to your site the moment you approve it.

Common questions

How much does an AI marketing team cost per month?

Vibrant Media costs $49 a month on Solo, $199 on Team and $499 on Scale. Solo includes 12 articles a month, Team 20, and Scale 50, so an article works out at $4.08, $9.95 and $9.98 respectively.

Who approves the content before it goes live?

You do. Every draft waits in Approvals on your Results screen, and approving it is the action that publishes it. There is no setting on any plan that turns unattended publishing on.

Where does an AI marketing team publish?

Into channels you already own. Three of the twelve have a real publishing adapter — WordPress, Shopify and Ghost — and the other nine arrive as a finished pack with a checklist that you post yourself, so no password for them is ever asked for.

How do you prove the work produced results?

From your own Google Search Console and Analytics, read by the analyst role. Without those two connected you get published work and no evidence, and the product says so rather than showing an invented number.

What is Surfer SEO?

Surfer describes itself as a way to "Create content that ranks on Google and gets cited by AI search engines". Its pricing page lists Discovery at $49 a month, Standard at $99, Pro at $182 and Peace of Mind at $299, all billed yearly, plus AI Search Analytics at $82 for visibility tracking alone (checked 2026-10-12). The Content Editor scores drafts with a Content Score, and the AI Tracker follows brand mentions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers on Pro and above.

The plans and what each one includes are on the pricing section of the site. For a writing platform that is driven the same way, the comparison against Jasper covers the other side of the same choice.
